Project Need
The problem our team will solve will be how we can better educate and mentor girls and young women about STEM careers so that they can become successful and come back to give to their communities to inspire others. We will address the social and cultural stereotypes within our community about women in the workforce in general but also in STEM careers. We will then come together to create group mentor opportunities so that girls and young women will know that they are an invaluable part of society's workforce.
Short term we expect to bring awareness to the female students and the community of the importance of a higher education for our girls and young women. Long-term we expect that more of our girls and young women at our campus will choose to join our Technology Academy on campus and/or participate in STEM-related activities on/off-campus so that they truly have a choice in their future. We also hope to inspire these females to look beyond just a high school education and to attend AND complete their community college/university education in STEM fields or other productive careers that will make our community rise.
